Daniel Radcliffe Is “Dramatically Bored” By News Of The Oscar Slap

MOVIE NEWS – Daniel Radcliffe does not want to share his personal opinion on Will Smith’s slap at Chris Rock because he thinks enough celebrities have already done so.

Daniel Radcliffe shouldn’t be asked his opinion on the Oscar fiasco because he explained that he doesn’t want to be part of the infamous story. On Sunday night, Chris Rock joked about Jada Pinkett Smith’s hairstyle, and Will Smith punched him in the face. Controversially, Smith accepted the Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role later that night, but many wondered why the King Richard actor was not arrested or at least escorted out of the building after he attacked the awards ceremony.

Many celebrities have also spoken out, given that the incident happened on the biggest Hollywood night of the year, watched by millions of people worldwide. Naturally, the situation has also been raised with The Lost City star Daniel Radcliffe, who was recently interviewed in the UK on Good Morning Britain. Radcliffe, for his part, refused to give any specifics about his personal views on the whole thing, as he feels he has heard enough opinions not to want to add any more. Daniel Radcliffe put it this way, according to Variety:

“I’m just so already dramatically bored of hearing people’s opinions about it that I just don’t want to be another opinion adding to it.”

Although he doesn’t take a position, Daniel Radcliffe admitted that he knows what it’s like to have his jokes thrown around at awards shows. For Radcliffe, it was a little different, as he took to the stage as a child star and the lead character in the Harry Potter films. Daniel Radcliffe recalls that he didn’t really know whether people were laughing at him or with him, and he got through it by simply smiling.

“When you’re going on stuff as a kid you’re never quite sure if the joke’s with you or you’re the butt of the joke. So you sort of have a mode of just being like ‘I’ll just keep smiling and laughing and maybe it’ll end soon.'”

Indeed, many celebrities have already spoken out about the Oscar incident. While many agree Chris Rock’s joke may have been really tasteless, the consensus still points to the fact that Smith nevertheless crossed a line by being violent with the comedian. Rock has reportedly denied that he has filed criminal charges against Smith, but that could still lead to disciplinary action against the actor. The Academy recently issued a statement apologizing to Rock and suggesting that action would be taken against Smith soon.

“Mr. Smith’s actions at the 94th Oscars were a deeply shocking, traumatic event to witness in-person and on television,” the Academy said in a statement. “Mr. Rock, we apologize to you for what you experienced on our stage and thank you for your resilience in that moment. We also apologize to our nominees, guests and viewers for what transpired during what should have been a celebratory event.”

The statement insists that Smith refused to leave the ceremony when asked and continues, “Things unfolded in a way we could not have anticipated. While we would like to clarify that Mr. Smith was asked to leave the ceremony and refused, we also recognize we could have handled the situation differently.”
