Will There be a Second Season of Moon Knight? Oscar Isaac, the Title Character, Answers!

MOVIE NEWS – The Marvel series The Moon Knight recently ended on Disney Plus, and now actor Oscar Isaac, the star who plays the title and lead role, was asked if there will be another season?

Oscar Isaac has dashed hopes that Marvel’s Disney+ series Moon Knight will have a second season. At least not in the near future. Speaking to the Radio Times, Isaac, who plays the title superhero and his various alter egos in the series, confirmed that Marvel Studios is not working on the second season of Moon Knight.

“You know, I think we approached it as ‘this is the story.’ And let’s just put everything out on the table in this story. There’s definitely no official plans to continue it. I think it would depend on what the story is.”

It was always expected that Moon Knight would be a limited series rather than an ongoing franchise. Though many fans were hoping those plans had changed after it was spotted that the Moon Knight series finale listing had recently been changed from “series” to “season”. Unfortunately, Oscar Isaac says this is not the case, and Moon Knight will be a one-off, closed series.

Despite this, Oscar Isaac was quick to say that he loved playing the Marvel character and would love to return if they could find the right story.

“That being said, I love being Steven. I just love it. It’s just like, physically, it’s so much fun to be him. So, if there was a story that made sense, I’d be happy to be part of it.”

Of course, there are currently no plans to continue the Moon Knight series, which doesn’t mean the character won’t pop up in future Marvel projects. As the MCU continues to expand and introduce characters such as Werewolf By Night, there will undoubtedly be many opportunities for Steven Grant to pop up.

In The Moon Knight, Oscar Isaac will play Steven Grant, an inhibited museum gift shop employee who is a jerk at work and in his personal life. He discovers he suffers from dissociative identity disorder (DID). Isaac thus plays Oscar Steven Grant and mercenary Marc Spector, two alternate personas of the same man who also have a superhero alter egos after making a deal with the Egyptian god Khonshu.

Marc and Steven become embroiled in a deadly mystery involving the Egyptian gods, where they must face off against the evil cult leader Arthur Harrow, played by Ethan Hawke. The film, produced by Jeremy Slater for Disney+, stars May Calamawy, Karim El Hakim, F. Murray Abraham, Ann Akinjirin, David Ganly, Khalid Abdalla, Gaspard Ulliel, Antonia Salib, Fernanda Andrade, Rey Lucas, Sofia Danu and Saba Mubarak, among others.

The Moon Knight consists of six episodes and came to a dramatic end on 4 May. The series has received positive reviews, with critics particularly praising the performances of Oscar Isaac and Ethan Hawke, and the series has carved out its own unique identity within the MCU. While Moon Knight could easily be the Marvel hero’s first and last solo appearance, this being the MCU, we’ll surely see him again sooner or later. Let’s hope we do.
