Thanks to a behind-the-scenes video from Yakuza 8, we’ve seen some new images of Ichiban Kasuga’s new hairstyle and more information about the game.
Famitsu has shared new screenshots of the in-development Yakuza 8, known in Japan as Ryu ga Gotoku 8. These off-screen images are from a behind-the-scenes video featuring MMA fighter Mikuru Asakura, who will also appear in the game. The photos show a closer look at the three main playable characters, Ichiban Kasuga, Koichi Adachi and Yu Nanba, but fans may notice that Ichiban has changed his hairstyle.
He has decided to wear his hair up instead of his iconic afro hairstyle from Yakuza: Like a Dragon.
The cut-scene in which Ichiban gets the afro hairstyle is quite memorable, with characters constantly teasing him about his hair. However, Yakuza games are full of fan service, so it won’t be surprising if he returns to his original hairstyle later in the story. Also, it seems that Adachi and Nanba will keep their original designs.
According to Famitsu, Yakuza 8 will also feature a new city. It’s reasonable to assume that much of the game will take place in the new city, much like Like a Dragon is centred around Yokohama. Other cities will likely feature in the game, but fans must wait for confirmation.
Unfortunately, that’s all the new information we have, as Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has yet to reveal the game and its release window officially.
This video was probably intended to give players a tour of the studio and a look at the main characters. Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is quite efficient, so fans probably won’t have to wait long to get their hands on Yakuza 8.
