Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: The Last Chapter: New Details From Ubisoft!

Ubisoft is giving us a sneak peek at the final DLC for Assassin’s Creed action RPG Valhalla, The Last Chapter.

On Monday, Ubisoft posted a new screenshot of the final DLC for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, The Last Chapter. The in-game image shows the return of the relic fragments from the base game. And Ubisoft has confirmed that much of the upcoming DLC will be about collecting these relics. Our goal is to find out the true ending of Eivor’s story.

Since its release in late 2020, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has been adding new content fairly regularly.

The Last Chapter adds to the game’s colossal DLC offering, which most recently expanded earlier this year with The Dawn of Ragnarok. Unlike previous expansions, however, The Last Chapter will be a much more bundled experience. Plus, Ubisoft is adding it for free as part of the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla 1.62 update. The patch will be released on December 6.

The glowing object seen in the newly shared screenshot of The Last Chapter is one of five memory fragments that the DLC will add to the game. Exploring and syncing each one will give players “new perspectives” on Eivor’s story. Other narrative details of the DLC are sketchy for now. But the developers recently revealed that they would re-examine Eivor and Havi’s relationship in The Last Chapter.

Since Ubisoft will once again be using fragments of memories as a narrative framework, the upcoming expansion will bear some resemblance to Assassin’s Creed 2, one of the most universally beloved instalments in the long-running franchise.

However, while AC2 ended reasonably successfully, the final chapter of Valhalla presents Ubisoft with a daunting task. According to some fans, the developers still have a lot of work to do to give Eivor a satisfying ending.

Speaking of long checklists, reaching The Last Chapter won’t be easy either. The DLC has quite a few prerequisites, which will probably take more than a hundred hours to complete. While the last three mainline games have targeted a demographic generally receptive to large amounts of content, Ubisoft’s decision to cater to RPG fans has alienated a portion of the series’ core audience. The question is whether Assassin’s Creed Mirage will manage to appeal to both groups.
