Alan Wake & Control Developers Have Come Up With A Bold Plan!

Remedy, best known for Max Payne and Alan Wake, is bringing mass game releases to the public.

Fans of mystery and haunting experiences know that 2023 will be remembered partly for the release of Alan Wake 2. Remedy’s title has dazzled fans of the genre with trailers and details. Everything points to it being the studio’s biggest game yet. But it seems the company has other projects to surprise us within the coming years.

So said Remedy CEO Tero Virtala in the developer’s latest financial results, where he also reiterated the company’s new and improved position when it comes to projects made in-house or with third parties.

But putting this rather industry issue aside, it’s worth noting that the executive doesn’t hesitate to use this public statement as a sounding board to make some inspiring promises to gamers.

“Our roadmap for the medium term is now set, and our full focus is on executing the projects in the current games pipeline. The investments in our teams, Northlight game engine and tool set, support functions and external development are the key enablers for our next growth leap during the coming years. We are planning to launch a new game per year starting from 2023, accompanied by additional free and paid content.”

Alan Wake 2 will therefore mark the start of an extended season in which users will receive one Remedy game per year. These will be followed by free updates and even paid DLC. All of this will further expand the range of gameplay possibilities. Which overall will be good news for gamers who have enjoyed franchises such as Control and Max Payne, which are among the developer’s projects.

On a related note, Virtala’s statement reminds us that Remedy is developing five games, including a multiplayer Control title, a bigger budget Control game, and remakes of Max Payne 1 and 2.

Unfortunately, the developer has not yet shared these games’ release dates. However, it looks like we won’t have to wait very long for the psychological horror experience of Alan Wake 2.
