Chris Pratt revealed his son Jack’s funny and typical reaction to the fact that he’s the voice of Mario in The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Pratt’s casting in the upcoming animated film adaptation of Nintendo’s video game franchise has caused quite a bit of controversy. The biggest issue fans had with the casting was that Mario is typically portrayed in games with an Italian accent. Many felt that an Italian-American actor should have been chosen for the role. However, his son had a more humorous view of the situation.

In an interview with ET Online, Pratt revealed what his son thought of the idea of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and as is often the case, he wasn’t too impressed.

Jack has actually long been a fan of characters who are the opposite of the one Pratt plays. So his response is hilarious. Jack also seems to be an expert on Smash Bros, which makes his comments somewhat more credible. Check out Pratt’s statement below:

“Like he plays Smash Brothers and he’s like, ‘Dad, I own at Smash, I own everybody at Smash. And I’m Luigi. I think Luigi is a better player.’ So he’s always kind of leaning against the characters that I play.”

As mentioned above, this isn’t the first time Jack has been unimpressed by the character played by his father in a movie. Most people know Pratt for his portrayal of Star-Lord in the Guardians of the Galaxy film series. To have your father play a superhero in one of the biggest movie franchises of all time seems like a pretty big deal; Jack understood that his father was Star-Lord even at the age of 4. Pratt often asked him if his favourite superhero was Star-Lord, but Jack remained adamant that Spider-Man was his favourite hero.

In 2017, a photo of Jack going trick-or-treating as a superhero who was clearly not Star-Lord went viral on Halloween.

Jack looked adorable in a miniature Captain America costume with a mask and a vibranium shield. Pratt, who accompanied him, pretended to be bothered that his son was celebrating as Captain America instead of Star-Lord, but his son seemed to be having a good time.

Fortunately, Pratt isn’t alone with kids who don’t care about his acting career. After all, many stars have talked about having similar problems. Pratt’s son has had his share of issues with the Super Mario Bros. Movie shows the reality of parenthood: the worst critics of famous parents are sometimes their own children.
