MOVIE NEWS – The world’s most famous wax museum has finally become available to Hungarian audiences. Madame Tussauds Budapest welcomes visitors with 51 Hungarian and international celebrities, who can get to know the stars in an interactive way.

Madame Tussauds Budapest, the world-famous wax museum’s first franchised attraction, opened its doors in a ceremonial setting last night. Located in the downtown Palazzo Dorottya, the museum displays 51 lifelike wax figures, among which, in addition to international superstars, Hungarian historical figures and contemporary celebrities are also included.

At the press conference, a number of prominent personalities, including Chris Scurrah, British Ambassador Paul Fox, Deputy Mayor Emese Balogh-Madár, Budapest Mayor Gergely Karácsony, and the owner, József Kreinbacher, presented what is expected to be the city’s most significant new attraction. The new exhibition also presents wax figures of 17 key figures of Hungarian culture, history and the present, while other international celebrities are also featured.

The opening was attended by several stars, for example Katinka Hosszú, who were all able to meet their own wax figures for the first time. The stars said that it was a great honor for them to be included in the collection of Madame Tussauds Budapest, and they found the detail and likeness of the figures fascinating.

Visitors to the museum can not only look at, but also touch and take photos with the wax figures, which are placed in different themed rooms. So, for example, they can meet Brad Pitt on the red carpet, Donald Trump in the presidential office, or Pope Francis. Hungarian figures include King Saint István, Ferenc Liszt, Ferenc Puskás and Katinka Hosszú.

Madame Tussauds Budapest opened its doors to the public in the first half of 2023, but there is already a lot of interest in it. Tickets can be purchased online at madametussauds.hu or in person at the venue. The museum is open from Monday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The history of Madame Tussauds goes back more than 200 years, when the French wax modeler Marie Tussaud began exhibiting her figures in London. The first permanent museum opened on Baker Street in 1835, and since then additional Madame Tussauds attractions have opened in more than 20 cities. Museums aim to showcase the world’s most influential and popular people from different eras and areas.

Madame Tussauds Budapest is the brand’s first attraction that operates in a franchise system. The museum was realized by a group of Hungarian investors in cooperation with Merlin Entertainments, which owns Madame Tussauds.
