Counter-Strike fans have been waiting for a sequel for a long time, but so far there have been only speculations and rumors. Now, however, new evidence has emerged that Valve is indeed working on a Counter-Strike 2, which completely reworks one of the most popular maps, Inferno.
Counter-Strike is one of the most popular and oldest online shooters, which attracts millions of players worldwide. The latest version of the game, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, was released in 2012 and has been constantly updated with new content and improvements. Valve, however, does not hide that they want to make a next-generation Counter-Strike, which takes advantage of the latest technologies and graphics capabilities.
According to some sources, Valve has been working on a secret Counter-Strike 2 project for years, completely recreating the gameplay and the maps. A previous leaked video already showed how the new Dust 2 map looks like, which is much more detailed and realistic. New images have been made public, showing the Inferno map.
Inferno is one of the most classic and favorite maps in Counter-Strike, set in a small town in Italy. The map has undergone several changes over the years, but always retained its original atmosphere and layout. The new images, however, suggest that Valve has radically changed the appearance and structure of Inferno.
The images show that Inferno has become much darker and gloomier than in previous versions. The houses are dilapidated and burned, the walls are covered with graffiti and posters. In the middle of the map there is a large church, whose tower stands out among the rooftops. Next to the church there is also a large statue, which probably has some religious significance.
The layout of the map has also changed. The images show that several new routes and hiding places have been created, which can affect the gameplay and strategies. For example, next to the B bombsite there is a new building, whose windows and doors are passable. On the other side of the map, a new tunnel connects the A bombsite and the middle area.
The leaked images are unofficial and it is not known how fresh or real they are. They may just show an early development phase or even a fake. Valve has not confirmed that they are working on a Counter-Strike 2 or when they plan to release it. Fans, however, hope that they will soon get more information about the expected sequel and that they can enjoy the new Inferno map.
