MOVIE NEWS – Hayley Atwell has revealed that she shot the first part of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One for more than three months before recording any dialogue.

Mission: Impossible Impossible: Impossible star Hayley Atwell has revealed that she spent more than three months shooting the film before recording a single line of dialogue. Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the upcoming seventh film in the long-running action franchise sees Tom Cruise return as Ethan Hunt to track down a dangerous new weapon before it falls into the hands of the enemy. Mission: Impossible – Fallout 1 brings together the franchise’s largest cast to date and introduces a handful of new friends and foes, including Atwell’s mysterious Grace.

Now that Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One is nearing its release date, Atwell told Total Film (via GamesRadar ) that he was on set for 100 days before he could actually dig into the dialogue. This speaks to the franchise’s action-oriented production process, which the star clearly loved. Watch Atwell’s full commentary below:

“I come from the theater and I speak a lot. I’m so used to the language. The language was always the first tool I learned in drama school and understanding the classics and the plays… So when I come into a franchise like this , and spending 100 days with just physical behavior and gestures, I felt like, ‘Am I expressing myself enough?’, because I’m so used to talking being my main thing.”

“What was clear was that if you looked at the playback, you felt that he was alive. The physical presence came from the chemistry with Tom and the preparation with the incredible world-class stunt team. So, you feel his energy and you feel his feelings without saying anything.”

“So there’s this feeling that you’re part of this workshop or master class about the pure cinematic experience and how it’s created. It’s for me between takes – I was talking and asking questions. I found this new language for the camera, which consisted only of not having to speak.”

We will see the film on Monday, July, a review is expected on the same day.
