Blizzard’s president comments on the possibility of Diablo 4 being added to Game Pass after the acquisition of Microsoft and Activision reached another milestone.
The president of Blizzard has now stated that there are no official plans to release Diablo 4 on Game Pass. Diablo 4 has been a massive commercial success for Blizzard, and getting it on Game Pass would allow even more players to experience the famous action RPG title, so many gamers have been hoping that Activision Blizzard’s acquisition seems more likely than ever.
Microsoft reached a major milestone in its acquisition of Activision Blizzard today, as Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley rejected the FTC’s plan to block Microsoft from closing the deal in the United States. Microsoft has been trying to acquire Activision since 2022, but has faced opposition from regulatory authorities in some countries. The judge’s decision marks one of Microsoft’s biggest victories to date.
Now, Blizzard president Mike Ybarra has shed some light on the possibility of Diablo 4 coming to Xbox Game Pass. He took to Twitter to say that it’s impossible to predict the future, but that the previous leak was a “hoax”, which he already commented on yesterday when he claimed that Diablo 4 would not be coming to Xbox Game Pass.
We can't predict the future. That "leak" was bogus, and not happening.

Although nothing has officially changed, Ybarra was clear when he said that no one can predict the future. This means that Diablo 4 may come to Game Pass sooner or later, but there are currently no concrete plans for that. It also ultimately depends on the upper management of Microsoft and Blizzard.
While getting US approval to close the deal was an important milestone for Microsoft, there are still a few hurdles in the way before the acquisition is completed. The UK CMA, for example, originally blocked the Activision deal. Without a license, Microsoft cannot proceed in the UK, which could potentially kill the whole deal, as both companies have studios in the country and it is a significant market. However, the CMA issued a statement shortly after the US court decision saying it was ready to consider Microsoft’s proposals to address the concerns. So it looks like there’s still light at the end of the tunnel for Diablo 4 fans who want to see the game on Xbox Game Pass, but they’ll have to wait and see what happens in the coming months.
