Harrison Ford Now Holds A Disney Record – He Broke It After 24-Years!

MOVIE NEWS – Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny didn’t live up to expectations, making Harrison Ford a Disney record-breaker.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny may not have broken any records at the box office. But with the belated sequel, Harrison Ford set a record of his own. Despite the fact that many critics had already ridiculed his role in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull 15 years ago, Ford is back for one last outing. It’s “old Indy” who Ford credits with setting his own Disney record.

Harrison Ford once joked about what it would be like to be still playing Indiana Jones at the age of 80, and now he had the chance to find out.

It also made him the oldest actor ever to direct a Disney film. He has surpassed the 24-year-old record set by Richard Farnsworth in the true story of David Lynch’s The True Story. Farnsworth was 79 at the time, barely younger than Ford. The latter was 80 when he made the new Indy film.

Dial of Destiny does not rule out the fact that Indy is no longer the middle-aged man he was when his screen adventures began. Ford plays the role with some pathos. He repeatedly admits that he shouldn’t be doing the things he does because of bad knees, weak shoulders and a host of other ailments of old age.

Can Harrison Ford be proud of his last outing in the role?

From the moment it was announced, many doubted whether Harrison Ford could still be convincing as Indiana Jones at the age of eighty. But it soon became clear that the film would not try to show the adventurer as anything other than his age. For his part, Ford threw himself into the stunt like a man half his age. This led to the actor being out of the game for a while when he injured his arm during rehearsals for some of the film’s fight scenes.

In the case of Indiana Jones, however, it didn’t get any further than that, as Ford made it clear that – despite possibly promising more at the last minute at the end of the film – he was reluctant to give up one of his most iconic roles.

Although the film underperformed at the box office, audiences were more than happy to see Indy get one last epic adventure that, in many ways, brings closure to the character.

There was talk of other branches of the Indiana Jones universe unfolding. For example, a TV series based on his younger years or even a spin-off with Phoebe Waller-Bridge reprising her role as Helena. But Lucasfilm seems to be too busy with the Star Wars franchise for the foreseeable future.
