MOVIE NEWS – Elemental is the most-watched film premiere of the year on Disney+ and is among the top 10 most-watched film premieres of all time, with 26.4 million viewers in its first five days.

Set in Elemetropolis, where fire, water, earth and air live together, the film was directed by Peter Sohn, produced by Denis Ream and executive produced by Pete Docter. The story follows the friendship between the quick-witted and fiery girl, Parázs, and the funny, tide-swimming Vortex. Their unlikely friendship causes Parázs to question not only her views of their world, but also the kind of person she wants to be.

“Elemental” hit Disney+ on September 13, and in its first five days of streaming, “Elemental” became the most-watched animated film premiere since Disney and Pixar’s “Pirula Panda” (Turning Red) in March 2022, and the most-watched Disney+ film premiere of all time in Latin America, surpassing the animated film “Pirula Panda”.

The film, which premiered in June, was a box office success, grossing $484 million worldwide, with a 93% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes and an “A” CinemaScore rating. In the United States, the film grossed $154 million – more than five times its $30 million opening weekend, a rare feat for any theatrical film and the second highest grossing multiple after Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story (1995). Internationally, the film grossed $330 million and did particularly well in South Korea, where it became Pixar’s highest-grossing film.

The screenplay for “Elementary” was written by John Hoberg and Kat Likkel, and Brenda Hsueh, and the story was written by Sohn, Hoberg and Likkel, and Hsueh. The original voice actors for the film are Leah Lewis, Mamoudou Athie, Ronnie del Carmen, Shila Ommi, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Catherine O’Hara, Mason Wertheimer and Joe Pera.
