The Last of Us Part 3 has still not been announced. But Jeffrey Pierce, who played Tommy Miller, shared an update on the game’s current state…
The Last of Us actor Jeffrey Pierce, who played Tommy Miller in the first two games, recently spoke about the current state of The Last of Us Part 3. The expected third part of The Last of Us video game series is still not announced. But since then, the franchise has been turned into a television series by HBO, which has won fans and critics’ praise.
Ever since The Last of Us Part 2 was released in 2020, fans have been wondering if Naughty Dog plans to develop a sequel shortly.
Recent statements from Naughty Dog head Neil Druckmann revealed that while the studio is open to developing another instalment of The Last of Us franchise, it is not currently in active development. It’s worth noting that The Last of Us Part 2 was released seven years after the first game. This suggests that part three is unlikely to happen anytime soon.
The statements made by Druckmann were also confirmed by Jeffrey Pierce, who plays Tommy Miller, in an interview with Dexerto. According to Pierce, he has yet to receive a script from Naughty Dog. You have no idea if the game’s development has even started yet. However, Pierce expressed full confidence in Naughty Dog and Neil Druckmann. “I’m going to trust when Neil hands me a script that it’s going to be perfect because that’s the way it’s been up until now.” Pierce also teased fans that if Naughty Dog eventually handed him a script and if asked about the game again, he would simply say he had no idea what they were talking about.
“At this point it’s not something that has begun in any fashion, at least, not that I know of, and I would hate to set myself up to have expectations about what it would be and then have it be something completely different.”
So, according to the official press release from Naughty Dog and the people involved in making the game, the game is not currently in active development. However, rumours suggest otherwise. An alleged leak from DanielRPK’s Patreon page has claimed that part of The Last of Us Part 3’s story will focus on a new group of survivors. Another leaker, ViewerAnon, corroborated DanielRPK’s claims. He claimed that Ellie would return in the third game, and her role would be as crucial as in the previous one. ViewerAnon also mentioned that the motion capture process for The Last of Us Part 3 is said to have started sometime this year.
If the leaked information turns out to be accurate, it would explain why Naughty Dog has yet to contact Jeffrey Pierce.
Especially if the upcoming game focuses on a new group of survivors and Ellie is the only returning character. However, it is also conceivable that Naughty Dog still hasn’t started the development of The Last of Us 3. Fans and critics praised the gameplay and graphics of The Last of Us Part 2. However, the act itself proved to be quite divisive. In light of this, Naughty Dog faces a considerable challenge. He must create a narrative that stays true to the characters he has developed. At the same time, it meets the expectations of the fans who have steadfastly supported the franchise for a decade…
