Despite ten days remaining for Shenmue III’s Kickstarter campaign, it already has a quite elusive position on the website’s most funded campaigns’ toplist. Yu Suzuki’s project is currently sitting on the tenth position with 4.4 million dollers at the moment. This most likely got pushed because of the physical version announcement – you can get a copy, if you pledge 60 dollars or more for Ys Net’s work. Seeing that most games usually cost this much, it’s worth considering a pledge for that Special Backer Edition.
Yet, the game is only second, if we look at videogames only. Shenmue got shadowed by Koji Igarashi’s Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, the spiritual successor of Castlevania. The plan would be to hit 8 digits, aka reaching 10 million dollars, so Shenmue III would be a truly open world game, but as Yu Suzuki says, he wouldn’t mind, if that target would not be hit. The game should be out on PS4 and PC by the end of 2017…
