The name of the Trinity Enhanced indicator is likely to change (it’s the codename for the PlayStation 5 Pro), but presumably not the system requirements a game must meet for Sony to display it on the PlayStation Store or on the game box.
According to Insider Gaming, the Pro Enhanced designation will return after PlayStation 4 Pro. If it is included by Sony, it means that the game in question will be able to take advantage of the console’s extra power. However, this will require a graphics mode that will only be available on the PlayStation 5 Pro, which will have a resolution of 4K at sixty frames per second. This mode will use PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) upscaling technology to boost the resolution to 4K, as well as a stable 60 FPS and an additional or enhanced ray tracing effect.
This is possible because the memory is 28% faster and the GPU is 45% faster in the PlayStation 5 Pro, which can render at twice the speed of the base model. However, Insider Gaming added that the Pro Enhanced designation could also be awarded if the game on the half-generation model offers a higher resolution and/or frame rate than the base PS5 (fixed); if the PlayStation 5 Pro achieves a higher maximum resolution if the title uses dynamic resolution on the base PlayStation 5; or if it supports the PlayStation 5 Pro’s ray tracing effects. For these reasons, there’s no guarantee that a game with the Pro Enhanced badge will be able to achieve 60 FPS with ray tracing!
The PlayStation 5 Pro’s processor will also be improved, as the Zen 2 CPU may be based on more modern technology (we reported on this recently), and since Sony has not officially announced the console, this should still be treated as a rumor, although it is said that the half-generation update will be in stores by the end of the year.
