While talking about how good The Last of Us is, Mike Ybarra also mentioned Red Dead Redemption 2 in passing.
Most people know The Last of Us series, but quite a few players also know the former president of Blizzard. Mike Ybarra spent nearly 20 years with the company before leaving Blizzard in early January of this year. Although he gave a shout-out to Xbox in his Twitter bio a few weeks ago, he’s been talking about video games on social media for days, specifically PlayStation and the Naughty Dog franchise.
Former Blizzard president Mike Ybarra has been quite active on social media lately, often talking about his current games on X/Twitter.
He recently stated that he has 100% completed The Last of Us: Part I on PC. He noted the following. “Finally getting around to playing The Last of Us on PC. They’ve addressed the unfortunate launch quality issues now, and the Steam version is fantastic,” he said.
He then mentions Rockstar’s open-world Western. “This game sits alone with RDR2 as simply stunning in terms of single player games.” Following this tweet, Ybarra called on Naughty Dog to release a PC port of The Last of Us: Part II: “Hey Naughty Dog
– let’s get a PC version of TLOU 2 out already. I’m here to test any time you need,” he wrote.
The former CEO of Blizzard praised Nixxes in addition to The Last of Us
In another post, he says this about PlayStation’s Nixxes studio, which is responsible for making the ports. “PlayStation is smart to have an internal Studio that does all ports to PC. Experts who know PC, have relationships with AMD/Nvidia and know PC gamers – giving the features they want to experience the best settings games have to offer. No bad ports, no excuses. Just good games.”
The responses to the tweet highlighted what a disaster The Last of Us: Part I was on PC when it launched.
Ybarra agreed with them, saying that PlayStation must have learned its lesson. (Not to mention, Nixxes didn’t work on TLOU.) “Yeah, good point,” Ybarra replied to Tom Warren. “I think they’ve learned their lesson, but I think Nixxes has proven itself time and time again.
