Assassin’s Creed Shadows Has Been Revealed: Here’s The Trailer & Everything We Know! [VIDEO]

Ubisoft has finally taken the wraps off Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the episode of the popular assassin game series formerly known as Assassin’s Creed Red, set in 16th-century Japan.

Ubisoft has officially revealed more information about Assassin’s Creed Shadows, namely the two protagonists of the upcoming sequel and the release date. Fans had been hoping for an Assassin’s Creed game set in feudal Japan for some time before Ubisoft announced the project, previously known as Assassin’s Creed Red, during the 2022 Ubisoft Forward livestream.

In the years since then, rumours and speculation about the game have been rife, giving eager gamers a glimpse of the next instalment in the historic action franchise.

These rumours suggested that Assassin’s Creed Red would have two playable heroes. A then-unnamed female shinobi, and Yasuke, an African samurai and real-life historical figure who served Oda Nobunaga between 1581 and 1582 during the Sengoku period. Earlier this week, Ubisoft revealed that Assassin’s Creed Red was officially titled Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and the cinematic trailer arrived a few days later. Even before the release of the aforementioned trailer, there were rumours that AC Shadows would be released on November 15.

Now, it has been officially confirmed that the game will be released on November 15, 2024, for PS5, Xbox Series, PC, and Luna.

At least some of the information in the rumours was confirmed by the Assassin’s Creed Shadows cinematic trailer, which Ubisoft shared earlier today – see at the end of the article! Unfortunately, we don’t know much about the gameplay. However, we can learn about the paths and fighting styles of the two protagonists.

What are the system requirements for Assassin’s Creed Shadows on PC?

The difference between the minimum and recommended requirements seems to be very noticeable. This is definitely an advantage for those who might embark on the new AC adventure with a less muscular computer.

Will AC Shadows be Steam Deck compatible?

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is now available for pre-order on PC. However, at least for now, the game will only be available on the platform through the Ubisoft Store and the Epic Games Store. So, there will be no direct Steam Deck support. Of course, another question is whether Epic’s application is installed. But we have to wait for the release to find out how it works from there.

Is an old favourite weapon making a comeback?

Although no gameplay footage of Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been shown yet, it is already sure that Naoe will use the Pivot Blade, just like Assassin’s Creed 3’s Connor once did. Just as Assassin’s Creed Shadows gives players two protagonists with different fighting styles, the presence of the Pivot Blade is just another way for the next instalment to try to keep things fresh. At the same time, it also throws in a bit of nostalgia for the most dedicated fans of the series.

The Pivot Blade allows its user to pivot the Hidden Blade – the signature wrist blade of the Assassins – through 90 degrees. So it works more like a dagger than a typical Hidden Blade. Assassins can wield it either as a hammer or as an ice pickaxe, which not only allows for special assassin manoeuvres but also a more practical approach to direct confrontations. Better than Hidden Blade allows. Assassins can evade their opponents while still being able to assassinate them without facing them.
