We Have a New Batman Voice! [VIDEO]

He may be the voice of Batman in the next Batman: Arkham game.

Many actors have taken on the role over the past six decades, from Adam West to Michael Keaton to Christian Bale. But when it comes to voices, there is usually only one we can name. We’re talking about Kevin Conroy, the voice of Batman in the 1990s animated series and later in Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham titles. But he has passed away, and someone has to fill the role, because the superhero is not a silent character!

Coming to Amazon Prime Video this year is Batman: Caped Crusader, a new animated series from DC. We’ve learned who will be voicing Harley Quinn, Catwoman or Two-Face, and the new voice of Batman has been revealed. Vanity Fair reports that the new voice of Batman will be Hamish Linklater. He played Father Paul Hill in the Netflix horror series Midnight Mass.

“I never in a million bajillion years thought I would actually get the part. Not only had I never been cast in a voiceover before, but it’s Batman! You don’t go from zero to Mount Olympus, and then I got the call and I screamed so loud. I just ran and grabbed my kids and was like, ‘Dad’s Batman!”, Linklater told Vanity Fair. Christina Ricci was cast as Selina Kyle (Catwoman). She has also appeared in the Netflix series Wednesday and the film Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Diedrich Bader has been cast as Harvey Dent (Two-Face). He was cast in Shazam! Wrath of the Gods and Napoleon Dynamite.

Batman: Caped Crusader has been given a release date. The series will be available on Amazon Prime Video on August 1, so we’re still about a month and a half away from its release. In the meantime, we’ve embedded a teaser video from the series to give you a sneak peek. Will Linklater be able to live up to Conroy’s performance? It’s probably safe to say no.
