MOVIES – Before we start with the actual analysis of the movie, I would like to inform our readers here at the start that Hitman – Agent 47 is a gigantically stupid movie. The basic concept is stupid, the acting and directing is terrible. The entire movie can be basically called as “stupid”, as there are so many stupid things happening (which I’ll not spoil for the lovely reader), that even the viewer will feel insulted. When we look behind the shootouts, the car chases, and the explosions, we see nothing else just a rip-off, since only the fanatics will run to buy a movie ticket.
Of course the term “stupid” is not a death sentence in terms of movies. There are a lot of movies that are dumb as hell, have no end or beginning, and yet we were there in the movie theatre feeling excited for the plot and the characters. Such movie was the Fast and the Furious franchise, where we did not see anything else besides the cool cars, and the hot girls. The adrenaline that these types of movies project, and the action scenes are able to carry the movie without any brain work requirement from the audience. Is this true for this movie also?
We won’t want back the previous movie
It is a fact that the previous Hitman movie was not a great one. We did not need to think too much about the plot, we just had to sit down, and enjoy us while our favorite assassin runs up and down, and sometimes kill a few unsympathetic bad guys. That was the movie, it need any more since it was the first movie of the iconic video game character. If it had any success it was probably because of the video game franchise’s success.
Agent 47 the current Hitman film deals with the same parameters as the previous movie. According to our story (There was some needed), 47 is being hunting those that created him (Those who do not know our favorite agent was created genetically) (YEP!). For his mission to be completed he needs the help of a woman called Katia, who is the daughter of the scientist who created him. (WOW!). So the road movie begins, the assassin travels along the road to kill the person who created him. Of course the organization (called Syndicate – pretty unique after Mission Impossible) will do anything they can to protect the doctor.
A lot of threads left hanging!
A lot of the times while watching the new Hitman movie I had a feeling that this all taking place in the MIP universe, and at any moment Tom Cruise would walk into the plot. Unfortunately such thing did not happen, but a lot of things were left hanging besides Agent Hunt.
For example it was never revealed why Katia is hunting her father (who she does not even know), why does she have spider like senses, and super powers etc. Of course the Syndicate is also a ghost faction just like in Mission Impossible Rouge Nation. I wonder if these coincidences are accidents, or … Well no, we won’t say such things.
All in all Hitman – Agent 47 is a fun road movie that will dazzle the viewer with its action scenes, and not with its thoughts. We won’t need our brain for the movie, just a big bowl of popcorn and some cold drinks. The questions raised by the movie – that the plot decides to only handle for 45 seconds – are not worth to think about, and just enjoy the minimal positives that the movie offers such as the visuals, and the bald head that we all love.
