[TGS] The PlayStation 4 got a price cut in Japan

Although the PlayStation 4 is out on the market since November 2013 (and February 2014 in Japan), the current generation console has not received a price drop ever since. Despite the 400 dollar price tag, the console is selling way better than the Xbox One at the moment, which already received price drops.

During the Tokyo Game Show conference, Sony announced that the PlayStation 4, which costs 41980 Japanese yen in the country (roughly 350 dollars – this is the base model without the camera, mind you), will now get its price dropped to 34980, in order to have a bigger audience due to being more affordable.

That means the price is now around 290 dollars converted, and because of that, we find it impossible that Sony will not announce a worldwide price slash in the upcoming month. Perhaps, they are planning to pull it off just before the Christmas rush in November? That would make the Xbox One’s situation a bit more difficult, even with Halo 5: Guardians and Rise of the Tomb Raider on their side. It’s very much possible. Looks like we might have to prepare for a 350$/€ price soon?
