PlayStation Vita: No first-party titles in development anymore

Sony have commented on the PlayStation Vita‘s status in a very sad way. The handheld is barely standing a chance outside Japan, and if you were hoping for a revival, we’re sorry to burst your bubbles: the focus at Sony Computer Entertainment has shifted towards PlayStation 4.

This means that there is going to be no more first-party titles for the PS Vita, only third-party developers are making games for this platform (and it’s really helping the handheld in Japan, where it’s still popular!), plus they were late with something. After launch, the under-20 population didn’t really go for the PS Vita – which was probably hurt by its steep price -, but now, tides are turning, thanks to Minecraft: PS Vita Edition. This is also a reason why new colours will be given to the PS Vita this fall.

This doesn’t bode well for the handheld. Even Shuhei Yoshida says that launching a successor now would be unhealthy because of the popularity of mobile platforms. Soon, the coffin will be in the ground, and the PS Vita will be in it…

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
