PES 2016: Surprise! Konami plans a free-to-play version

Pro Evolution Soccer is pretty much the only stable console franchise for Konami because it’s guaranteed to see an annual release or hell, even just getting it out to the players. This year’s installment 2016 was launched in the middle of September, beating FIFA 16 home by a week, but the quality wasn’t the best, to say the least. Not even the first Data Pack helped the situation. Sure, to make up for the issues, Konami announced a free DLC for the game: Euro 2016 (aka the European Football Cup) will be available for everyone, yet, Konami decided to take another step.

There’s also going to be a free-to-play edition of the game for both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. It’s going to be available from December 8. In this limited version, we’re going to get seven teams to play with, plus myClub and the Training modes. Pretty much the same stuff as in the demo.

The problem is that FIFA, the rival franchise by EA Sports sells way more than PES. Oh well. If you want to get your annual football fix on the cheap, maybe this is your way to go.
