CoD and PlayStation 4 took December by storm

United States’ NPD has finally provided the sales data for 2015 December. This month is very important for both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One: the holiday season means a lot of potential to get new customers and users to expand the user base.

Unsurprisingly, the PlayStation 4 won December yet again. After Sony‘s announcement of selling 5.7 million consoles worldwide in the holiday season, it was expected to happen. The tendency continued: gaming becomes more mainstream, proven by the comparison to the PS3/X360 as well: in 26 months from their launches, the PS4 and the Xbox One sold 47% more compared to the PS3‘s and Xbox 360‘s results in the same period. Current-gen console sales jumped 38% compared to 2014 December, but prev-gen consoles and handheld sales dropped by a whopping 71 and 32 percents, respectively.

The games’ top list was taken by Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 again, beating Star Wars Battlefront and Fallout 4. If we look at the entirety of 2015 and its (physical!) game sales, the podium would be almost the same, except the second spot would be taken by Madden NFL 16 instead of Battlefront.
