Firewatch: The PS4 version has issues!

Another game that got out of its bed on the wrong side! Campo Santo‘s Firewatch launched today on PlayStation 4 and PC. The console version has very noticeable technical issues that the developers still have to fix…

As we are walking around in Yellowstone Forest, obviously the console would have to load parts of it while we wander around. However, it happens in a terrible way: around every five minutes, the framerate drops for several seconds due to loading. This kills the momentum and the ambience. Also, loading screens can crash the game back into the PS4‘s menu.

On NeoGAF’s forums, Sean Vanaman, the writer of Firewatch said that if his team had decided to release the game as it is, it’s because they feel it is playable in its current state. They are discussing with Sony and Unity to improve the PlayStation 4 version’s performance. (The PC port already received a patch!)

So expect a patch shortly that may improve the performance of Firewatch. Until then, get used to those framerate issues.
