Doom: almost perfect image quality still, there’s a small hic… [VIDEO]

DigitalFoundry didn’t take much time to analyse the latest DOOM beta on the PlayStation 4, and they came up with quite promising results about the upcoming id Software shooter’s multiplayer component.

The visuals are not bad, and this is also accompanied by a decent framerate, as the game mostly runs on sixty frames per second – it might be one of the strong points of id Tech 6 against the free-modeled Unreal Engine 4, CryEngine V or Unity. Unfortunately, there are problems as well. The game has several screen tearing frames, which can be an annoying thing for some. However, the game uses an adaptive v-sync technology to avoid screen tearing for most of the time. There’s also an issue with the textures. They tend to pop in here or there, and their quality also seems to be a bit low. Is this the downside to having a high framerate?

DOOM launches on May 13 (on a Friday, no less) on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
