Tom Hanks Tries to Save the World as Robert Langdon in Brand New Inferno Trailer ! [VIDEO]

MOVIE NEWS – Brand new video surfaced from the latest adaption of the bestseller books by Dan Brown. The famed symbologist, Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) races against the clock to stop a deadly global plot in Ron Howard‘s Inferno.

Ron Howard, the Academy Award winner director returns for adaptation of the latest bestseller in Dan Brown‘s (Da Vinci Code) billion-dollar Robert Langdon series: Inferno, which sees our famous symbologist (again played by good old Tom Hanks) on a trail of clues, which are tied to the great Dante himself.

When Langdon wakes up in an Italian hospital with amnesia, he works together with Sienna Brooks (Felicity Jones – again!), a doctor he hopes will help him recover his memories. Together, they race across Europe and against the clock to foil a deadly global plot.

David Koepp wrote the film‘s screenplay which is based upon the novel by Dan Brown. Brian Grazer and Ron Howard are the producers. Today, Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for this thrilling third movie in the Robert Langdon series, which brings our first look at the movie.

‘Every clue will take him deeper.’ Tom Hanks returns as Robert Langdon after seven years, retaking his role from 2006’s The Da Vinci Code and 2009’s Angels & Demons, which have both made over $1.2 billion worldwide to date. The supporting cast includes Irrfan Khan as Harry Sims, a.k.a. The Provost, Omar Sy as Christoph Bruder and Sidse Babett Knudsen as Dr. Elizabeth Sinskey, the head of the World Health Organization. Ben Foster is acting the villain Bertrand Zobrist, a scientist who will try to unleash a global plague that will solve the world’s problem with overpopulation.

Sony Pictures has set an October 28 release date for Inferno, putting it up against Paramount’s Rings and an untitled horror film from Lionsgate. It isn’t known if the filmmakers and Tom Hanks will team up to adapt Dan Brown’s third Robert Langdon novel, The Lost Symbol, which was originally in development after Angels & Demons. Although the filmmakers decided to skip over that novel and make Inferno instead, based on the book of the same name that was published in 2013.

Both The Da Vinci Code ($758.2 million worldwide) and Angels & Demons ($485.9 million worldwide) were substantial hits at the box office, but we’ll have to wait and see if Tom Hanks and Ron Howard can make it three blockbusters in a row with Inferno. This latest trailer opens with a tantalizing set up. There is a switch. If thrown, half the people on earth will die. But if it isn’t thrown, the human race will be extinct in one hundred years. Take a look at this first trailer and find out if Langdon has what it takes to throw that switch!
