Cologne’s event will not host a conference for either of the two console manufacturers, which shrinks Gamescom‘s size.
Microsoft announced that they will be out there, though: they’ll host a more personal event, the Xbox FanFest – more details will be mentioned later. The Redmond-based company will allow people to try out some of the biggest upcoming games, such as Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3, and Halo Wars 2.
Sony will not host a dedicated conference for the second year in succession, but seeing how they focused on Paris Games Week instead with things like the announcement of Gran Turismo Sport, it’s possible that the Japanese company is targeting Paris yet again.
However, we’re now wondering the PlayStation 4 NEO will be revealed, because going by the predicted Japanese PS4 shortages, the stronger model might be available from October. We have also yet to see the future of Gamescom: if two high-profile companies „skip” Cologne, it makes the event look worse.
