We might be able to put in a faster HDD (or even an SSD!) into the new PlayStation 4.
In his interview with Japanese publication 4Gamer; translated by NeoGAF, Masayasu Ito, Vice President of Sony Interactive Entertainment said that the PlayStation 4 Pro would not support SATA 3 hard drives. However, Sony sent a statement, which says that the PS4 Pro will indeed arrive with SATA 3-support.
What does this possibility mean? You can use faster winchesters or even SSDs for your Sony console. SSDs are extremely fast, and they would drastically cut down the loading times. If you go for an „ordinary” HDD to replace your original 1 TB one, you could still see an improvement over the original PS4. 3 gigabits per second (384 megabytes)? How about SATA 3‘s 6 Gb/s (768 megabytes)?
We’re waiting for Sony to officially confirm this improvement.
