Microsoft‘s console pulled in October as well.
The Xbox One was the best-selling console in the United States, the United Kingdom, and even in Australia in the past month, according to NPD and GfK. With this result, the Xbox has had its fourth victorious month versus the PlayStation in a row in 2016.
Microsoft probably took July due to getting rid of the stocks of the basic Xbox One model before the launch of the S version in August. The two autumn months might have been the greens’ due to the audience waiting for November 10, the launch of PlayStation 4 Pro, not to mention October’s big Microsoft release, namely Gears of War 4. While the PlayStation 4 Slim and the PlayStation VR came out, players might have been waiting to pick the PS4 Pro up instead.
We might see a strike back from Sony in November, but if Microsoft ends up staying on top, it should be time for the Japanese to be worried: if they can’t take the throne back with a stronger hardware at the old price of the PlayStation 4, then there are problems.
