At least here’s a VR game that has become a financial success for the devs.
PlayStation VR launched in last October, which opened up the gates of virtual reality a bit more. Despite months having passed since the VR headset’s release date, Sony still didn’t publish any public sales figures of their product yet, which is quite ominous. Here’s a game though that cares to submit its results.
Owlchemy, the developer of Job Simulator, has announced that their game has reaped over three million dollars in sales. They decided to share the game’s performance because they believe despite the early days of VR, if a product is good, there could be a big demand. (AKA, they insulted the others with their statement?)
Owlchemy’s CEO, Alex Schwartz says there’s another reason behind Job Simulator‘s success: the spectator mode, which allows the player to share and capture their gameplay easier, and others can look at their flaws from a third-person perspective, making it look funnier than if it was from a first-person angle.
Congratulations to the developers!
Glad to share Job Simulator passed $3 million in sales & 250 million YouTube views! Great news for the future of VR!https://t.co/QVxn9J2Hy0
