GTA Online: Take-Two’s Banhammer Hits (And It Hit Back, Too) [VIDEO]

Take-Two has had enough of cheating.

OpenIV was a popular multi-purpose editor and archive manager for Grand Theft Auto IV and V on PC, and you could do some mods with it. Take-Two’s cease and desist struck it, even though previously, Rockstar openly supported some of its mods. The reason behind the shutdown? OpenIV enabled „malicious mods” in Grand Theft Auto Online.

The banhammer hit Force Hax, too – PC Gamer reports that they also got a cease-and-desist order, and their site shows that all of the proceeds, as it had paid solutions, will be donated to charity. Lexicon and Menyoo display similar messages but also mention that the charity is going to be designated by Take-Two.

The disappearance of mods was rated by Steam users, extremely negatively! Even a Change.org petition is happening to save OpenIV.

GTA Series Videos also made a video out of the situation. It is called The Purge (RIP Mods).

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
