Is The New PlayStation 4 Firmware Causing A Bug?

4.72 might have brought along a new bug.

Yesterday, we wrote about how there is a new system software update for the PlayStation 4… which turned out to be probably causing a new bug, as users on Reddit reported that users show up as offline despite them doing nothing out of the ordinary and just play something. The console seems to force them to be „offline” despite being logged in as usual.

Others users got the short end of the stick: they can’t invite other players to play, or they can’t play online themselves since the new firmware was installed. Sony’s status page shows no errors, and Ask PlayStation also seems to be thinking it’s just a small, isolated issue.

If you are affected, restart your PlayStation 4 and also unplug and replug your router’s AC cable. (And Sony should probably test their firmwares before releasing them to the public…)
