The Witcher Is Ten Years Old; CD Projekt RED Is Celebrating! [VIDEO]

It’s been ten years since Geralt showed up on our PCs!

The Polish developers launched their first The Witcher game a decade ago, based on Andrzej Sapkowski‘s books. Unfortunately, the writer got the short end of the sticks: he asked the money up front, and since then, he’s not getting royalties. However, we got an outstanding RPG series over the past eight years.

CD Projekt RED made a special video for this anniversary. In it, Geralt remembers his history, while a lot of characters also show up in the two minutes. The Witcher launched in 2007, followed by the second title, Assassin of Kings in 2011 and the finale of the trilogy, Wild Hunt in 2015, respectively. There may be a fourth game as well, but not anytime soon: the devs are working on Cyberpunk 2077.

Happy birthday, Geralt!

Anikó, our news editor and communication manager, is more interested in the business side of the gaming industry. She worked at banks, and she has a vast knowledge of business life. Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
