The American Voice Actor Strike Reaches The End!

This strike, which has been going on for almost a year, affected games as well.

The SAG-AFTRA union has over 160 thousand actors and media personalities, and their strike has been going on since October 1 – roughly for a year. This strike was the reason why Life is Strange: Before the Storm’s Chloe had a different voice actor. (Resident Evil 2 Remake was also affected: the original voices of Leon and Claire did not reprise their role due to the strike…)

Multiple companies were affected, such as Electronic Arts, WB Games, Disney, Activision, Take-Two, and Insomniac Games who recently changed their logo, forcing them to work with other voice actors. However, the union issued a statement, which reveals how the issue was resolved. „The terms of the tentative agreement, which was reached early Saturday morning, include a new bonus structure that provides an additional payment to performers. The bonus payment, which is due no later than the release date of the game, is based on the number of sessions worked on each game, beginning with a $75 payment on the first session and totaling $2,100 after ten sessions worked,” the statement reads.

Hopefully, now that the strike is over, no bigger developments will be affected by SAG-AFTRA.
