Electronic Arts Acquires Respawn Entertainment (And Titanfall)!

The publisher has purchased Respawn, and along with it, the Titanfall franchise is also in their possession.

You can read the announcement on Electronic Arts‘ website, which says that Respawn, who is currently working on a new Titanfall, a new Star Wars, and a VR game, is now owned by the publisher.

Electronic Arts is going to pay 151 million dollars in cash (!), as well as a maximum of 164 million long-term equity (restricted stocks) to employees, vesting over four years. The developers may also get an extra of 140 million bucks if they achieve development milestones by the end of 2022.

We haven’t seen many times that an Electronic Arts-acquired studio survived in its original form for long, and we don’t want to write in the future about the closure of Respawn anytime soon either…

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
