Sledgehammer Originally Developed Something Else Than Call Of Duty: WWII!

Sledgehammer, whose first Call of Duty title was 2014’s Advanced Warfare, would have worked on a different second project!

Activision’s CEO, Eric Hirshberg told Newsweek what Sledgehammer would have originally developed: „Sledgehammer wanted to make Advanced Warfare 2,” he said. So, they would have stayed in the (near) future, but due to something (probably Battlefield 1…?), they had to change their plans, and we don’t know whether the switch happened due to Activision or not. „We knew they would become historians, that they would tackle it with authenticity, give it tremendous care, and we also knew they would capture the unspeakable scale of World War II,” Hirshberg added.

The change was somewhat understandable. The three previous Call of Duty titles were futuristic, and Hirshberg said that 2016’s Infinite Warfare was underperforming. Don’t forget, money talks…

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
