Emmanuel Macron thinks that video games should also be supervised by the French supreme council of audiovisual.
Recently, Europe’s many countries have started talking about games, especially due to the loot boxes. The Belgians had a negative, the British had a neutral, and a French senator had a concerned stance recently. Now, it’s Macron’s turn – the French president talked about the subject (although not directly mentioning loot boxes).
He said that children watch less television than older people, and he added that there’s not much regulation regarding access to video games, content on the Internet, and thus, he believes that the supreme council of audiovisual, the CSA, should be supervising the games, too.
However, Europe already has a board that rates the games – PEGI. The French president’s proposal sounds somewhat utopistic. Thankfully, it’s just a comment, for now, nothing else.
