The game’s producer cleared up a few things.
WCCFTech is quoting the Official UK PlayStation Magazine, which has an interview with Yuji Korekado, the game’s producer. He talked about how this game is meant to be a spin-off: „Fans and gamers, in general, seemed to take Metal Gear Survive to be a continuation of the Metal Gear series, so I regret that we caused that confusion.” So don’t look at Survive as Metal Gear Solid 6.
What about the monetization? „There will not be loot boxes, and there will not be Pay-to-Win types of microtransactions. There will be things like the accessories in Metal Gear Online, and Forward Operating Base in MGSV: The Phantom Pain.” Fair enough – those modes indeed had them, and it wasn’t an issue in the game that launched roughly 2.5 years ago.
Korekado also talked about the campaign: „In the early part of the game, you have a small range that’s centered around the base camp, but as you make your way through the game the area you can explore gradually gets bigger and bigger. And as the area you can explore gets bigger, missions that advance the story appear, as do sub-quests.”
The 40-dollar Metal Gear Survive, a zombie survival spin-off, will launch on February 20 in North America and on February 20 in Europe, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
