Sony Interactive Entertainment Santa Monica’s game is firing up its marketing.
The game’s PlayStation website has a podcast, featuring the lead environment artist, Nate Stephens, and the lead environment concept artist, Luke Berliner. They said that the game originally had a different direction: God of War would have been more intimistic and realistic, moving away from big set pieces.
All nine worlds of the Norse mythology will be present, as well as levels that are unlike anything seen before in the franchise, thanks to the game’s director, Cory Barlog‘s story. There will be some environmental hazards, too (such as exploding trees… hmmm) – they will be „glorified doors” that will block Kratos from proceeding further.
During PlayStation Experience in December, an interview was recorded with Barlog, who revealed his inspirations – legends, artifacts, and stories. There is a good reason why this video is called „Behind the Myths” instead of a regular behind the scenes title!
God of War will launch on April 20, exclusively on PlayStation 4.
