God Of War: PlayStation 4 Pro Owners, Rejoice! [VIDEO]

Sony didn’t forget about those who own the stronger console.

Cory Barlog, the game’s director, got a question on Twitter, whether the players need a PlayStation 4 Pro for the full experience or not. He replied: „Nope, you don’t have to, but if you do, 4K is AMAZING, if you have a 4K TV, of course. If you don’t, we have a performance mode that puts the extra power to good use and makes the game run so so smooth!” So, the game has a performance mode, with likely a 1080p resolution, and likely a constant sixty frames per second. (At least, that’s what we’re hoping for…)

How’s the combat, you ask? A new, 4K video (which is Japanese, but it doesn’t matter) shows bits of it:

Moving on to the marketing machine (we know, we know)… there’s a new video, which introduces Kratos’ new weapon, the Leviathan Axe. (Say goodbye to the blades!) We learned why Sony Santa Monica switched to this weapon, and the amount of damage it can deal out is also represented in the video, along with the possible upgrades we can apply to it.

And since third time’s the charm, one more video (and one extra), this time, featuring Atreus, Kratos’ son. Jeet Shroff, the Gameplay Engineering lead, is the commentator, and he discusses how they made Atreus useful in God of War. We can order him to do things like stun an enemy with a single button, and we can upgrade his skills as we progress the story, too.

Let’s end with the chorus: the PlayStation 4-exclusive God of War launches on April 20.
