„My main goal is to translate what the fans want and expect”
Kong: Skull Island’s director talked about the upcoming Metal Gear Solid movie at Comic Con (in San Diego) and we learned from him that it won’t be a direct adaptation of any given game.
„We’re not literally adapting something like ‘this specific game’, but we’re not going to do it as crazy as the Dark Tower movie, which completely ignored what the fans love about the play…” – Jordan Vogt-Roberts explained in the interview he gave to IGN.
He also quoted Kojima and what he said to him: „do what I would do, betray your audience”. Roberts stressed that they want to “translate what the fans want and expect, and take that surprising and unmanageable timeline that spans decades and, in some way, make it make sense as a movie.” He feels very proud and excited about the project.
Roberts also added that “I think the way to adapt the game to the movies is as close as Kojima would do it, and the script is one of the coolest things I’ve ever read. Particularly in terms of how to handle times and the scale of one of the things that when I read the script I said ‘I’ve never seen anything like this before'”.
