Ubisoft’s CEO Talks About Gaming’s Future (Again) [VIDEO]

Yves Guillemot already had comments about this subject earlier this year, but now he stood in front of the cameras at ChinaJoy in Shanghai.

Guillemot, who seemingly aged five years by sporting a beard, thinks that the cloud-based games will have their worlds more densely populated and more active in long-term than the titles nowadays. They will be more interactive than before, and they will also be simulated by supercomputers.

He added that the interface between the player and the game would also change, which will also affect the AAA games’ industry, too, as everyone will be able to play. The Blockchain cryptocurrency also got a shoutout: he thinks players will be capable of creating content that they can sell securely to other players, and thus, they can become shareholders in Ubisoft‘s games.

„Players will have the possibility to be immersed in games that are intelligent, that recognize what they do, that will give them more possible interactions with those universes, and the NPCs they will meet. There’s plenty more to come in making those experiences more interactive and more interesting. They will be able to experience those games on their mobile, on their tablet, on any screen. So this is going to give them a chance to participate in the creation of our games, and also have fun,” Guillemot said. Notice how he used the word experience.

So… games will become experiences?

Anikó, our news editor and communication manager, is more interested in the business side of the gaming industry. She worked at banks, and she has a vast knowledge of business life. Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
