Cyberpunk 2077: Our Decisions Will Have More Consequences Than In The Witcher 3

Going by our decisions, V will change more significantly than Geralt has ever done.

This time, Stanisław Święcicki, CD Projekt RED’s writer, talked a bit about the Polish developer team’s next, highly anticipated game that still doesn’t even have a release YEAR yet. GamesMaster interviewed him, and their September issue will have the interview that was quoted by WCCFTech: „Every well-established protagonist needs a story, and our character is no exception. That said, the choices players make will play a huge part in shaping V on more levels than they ever have in our previous games. Whereas Geralt was a professional, a veteran monster slayer who knew the world inside out, V is a hired gun looking to make the big leagues. When you look at it this way, V’s perspective isn’t too different from the player’s, who is also just getting to know Night City and deciding their stance towards it,” he said.

Święcicki also touched upon the upgrades: „That’s still something we’re working on, and it’s too early to dive into details just yet, but choices you make, whether during character creation or gameplay, will matter and have consequences.” The story’s values and themes got mentioned as well: „You can’t beat a story which touches on universal human values and emotions such as dedication, sadness, loss, friendship, or love. I think these values matter all the more in a world in which the human body is no longer ‘sacred’ and the very meaning of what ‘humanity’ becomes blurred.”

He also told Multiplayer that there will be a dynamic weather in the game as well: „We wanted to make you feel like an integral part of the city right from the first moment, and as in all cities, day and night, we wanted to show players how we were able to recreate a dark and dystopian future, even in daylight. Of course, there will be variable weather conditions.”

Let’s hope there won’t be an accident after the hype train stops… Cyberpunk 2077 will be shown at Gamescom, but again, it will be presented to the press behind closed doors.
