A post-apocalyptic Far Cry in Far Cry 5’s location: it’s a direct sequel that will not require the previous game – set 17 years after Far Cry 5!
„[…] The vicious Highwaymen, led by twin sisters Mickey and Lou, travel from place to place bleeding people dry of all available resources. As the Survivors try to defend their lands against the Highwaymen’s relentless onslaught, it’s up to you to come to their aid and lead the fight.[…] Help the community of Survivors grow stronger, craft a makeshift arsenal through Turf Wars and cross-country Expeditions, and form unexpected alliances to fight for survival in a dangerous new frontier,” the press release says. It also mentions the possibility of finding Joseph Seed, too!
As a new addition to the gameplay, you can create and upgrade your base (doesn’t that thought sound like Far Cry Primal?). „Specialists join the Survivors to help you craft weapons and vehicles, train your Guns for Hire, and even go on Expeditions from the eight Homebase facilities: the workbench, training camp, explosives lab, infirmary, garage, healing garden, cartography, and expeditions. Grow your community and upgrade your Homebase to improve your facilities and unlock more powerful weapons and gear,” the press release adds. As a twist, the expeditions (which are located outside Hope County, too, which means you get to visit known locations of the United States in a post-apocalyptic format) and the Highwaymen’s outposts will be different each playthrough.
Far Cry: New Dawn was announced outright in the regular (40-dollar/euro!) version, and the Deluxe Edition (55 dollars/euros), which will also contain the Hurk Legacy and Knight Pack, as well as the Rat4’s Blast Off, and M133M’s Retro Sci-Fi skin. Pre-ordering will get you the Unicorn Trike skin. The game will launch on February 15 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
Is it us, or Far Cry: New Dawn and RAGE 2 tries to pull the same schtick…?
