The committee has a particular focus on young people, and they will look at the impact of the immersive technologies to create infrastructure, regulation, and to „keep pace with the increasing digitisation and ‘gamification’ of people’s lives.” The deadline is January 14, and the members wait for written evidence from individuals, charities, and businesses.
Ofcom, the UK broadcasting authority, provided data that says in average, people look at their smartphones five times an hour (every 12 minutes), and every fifth person spends over 40 hours a week online. In the United Kingdom, 12.4% more money, a total of 5.11 billion pounds, was spent on gaming, and, according to the British eSports Association, by 2020, the eSports industry will generate a billion pounds of revenue, and its audience would be 600 million people.
