Epic Games Raked Up A Lot Of Profit This Year!

Epic Games, who recently launched their digital games store, got filthy rich via Fortnite.

TechCrunch reports based on its anonymous source that Epic Games, who are also behind Unreal Engine, got three billion dollars of profit in 2018. Most of the profit comes from Fortnite, which isn’t surprising: the favourite game is available on virtually every platform (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android…). Two months ago, Wall Street Journal valued Epic Games at roughly fifteen billion dollars after several investors profited from the company’s success. (And let’s not forget that in 2012, approximately 40% of the stakes were bought by a Chinese megacompany, Tencent!)

However, Fortnite‘s success comes at the cost of two IPs – The Coalition now develops Gears of War, and Unreal Tournament… its development is currently abandoned. The success led Epic to halt its new instalment’s progression.
