It took a while, but one of the most significant Half-Life 2 mods is now completed.
The Valve-classic, which was released in 2004, receives a significant overhaul with the MMod. Its goal is to „enhance and expand gunplay, combat mechanics and the immersion factor by giving the Player more options and combat opportunities as well as refine how the Player handles his arsenal. Half-Life 2: MMod also offers minor AI enhancements, extended abilities for combine soldiers, multiple bug fixes, enhanced visuals, VFX re-design, sound redesign and much much more, while keeping nearly every new feature in the mod totally optional.”
Half-Life 2 MMod works with Half-Life 2: Update, Episode 1, Episode 2, and Lost Coast, and it also supports user mods as long as they have no server or client DLL files. If you want to install it, go to Tools on Steam, then modify Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer with a right click to the Upcoming branch, and then, Steam has to be restarted.
The mod can be found here. Black Mesa: Xen, which has been in development for several years, is also set to come sometimes in the second half of the year, and Project Borealis, which is based on the unused Half-Life 2 Episode 3 story written by Marc Laidlaw, is also going to get major updates during this year. (If you don’t have the game, shame on you, you can buy it here for less than two dollars.)
