Days Gone Isn’t Selling That Well!

We can somewhat predict the sales – somewhat – to see how Sony‘s newest PlayStation 4-exclusive performs, and there is a comparison against the other PS4-only titles.

In the United Kingdom last week, with the physical sales, Days Gone has started on the top, beating the other newcomer, Mortal Kombat 11, to the punch. The other games on the top 10: FIFA 19 (in brackets, we list the last week’s position: 2.), Red Dead Redemption 2 (5.), The Division 2 (3.), Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (4.), Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice (8.), Forza Horizon 4 (16.), New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe (10.), and World War Z (1.).

In comparison to God of War, which also came out nearly the same time last year, Days Gone has sold 27% less physical copies, but since it’s a new IP, that could be a reason why Kratos sold better. Mortal Kombat 11 also underperformed compared to Mortal Kombat X (43.5% less physical sales during launch week), but we have to mention that there has been a slight shift towards digital sales in the past few years. (However, compared to Injustice 2 from 2017, the game sold better.) The PlayStation 4 took the most sales with its 71%.

Let’s compare Days Gone with most major PlayStation 4-exclusives’ physical launch sales in the United Kingdom: Days Gone: 69813; God of War: 96533; Bloodborne: 31431; Detroit: Become Human: 23147; Horizon: Zero Dawn: 166952; Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End: ~192000; Gran Turismo Sport: ~74000. So, it’s somewhere in the middle… and even with this performance, Sony Interactive Entertainment Bend Studio’s game has pulled off the biggest launch of the year so far!

Days Gone got its 1.05 patch on Friday. It’s 136 MB, and its patch notes are the following: added fixes for crashing issues with Days Gone version 1.05; added stuttering and lag fixes; Days Gone 1.05 improved framerate drop issues; various performance and stability improvements; added fixes for glitches with Days Gone 1.05; added minor bug fixes and changes. However, the audio glitches still remain in the game – there might be no environmental sounds (which is more than necessary to survive…), or during some cutscenes and missions, characters might go mute out of nowhere.

So the situation isn’t rosy…
