The First Two The House Of The Dead Games Are Getting Remade!

Forever Entertainment and SEGA have signed a deal, so the Japanese company’s games can be remade.

„Hi, Guys! We confirm the signing of the agreement regarding remakes of the games “The House of the Dead” and “The House of the Dead 2“. No platforms or release dates have been confirmed, and unfortunately, we can’t say anything more for now,” Forever Entertainment wrote on Twitter. That’d be too cheap to end here, so let’s see what a Polish website named Graczpospolita wrote on September 25. (So the Polish colleagues were onto something if they knew about it almost two weeks ago.)

The following information has not been confirmed, so take it with a grain of salt. According to Graczpospolita, both titles will be developed by MegaPixel Studio, and the first entry is due out before the end of 2020. Both titles will feature new graphics to suit modern standards and slightly modified gameplay (that doesn’t bode well, now does it?), while fully preserving the original scenarios. A look at the first game will be shared in the coming months.

Forever Entertainment and MegaPixel Studio might be reminding you of something – if not, then we’ll tell you that we previously wrote about how SEGA is working with these companies to make Panzer Dragoon: Remake, and Panzer Dragoon II Zwei Remake. (The first one will launch this winter on the Switch, but no info on the other platforms and when they could get the game.)

The first The House of the Dead came out in 1996, with the sequel following two years later. Both games are light gun rail shooters, and they required some slick aiming, otherwise, you’d have had to toss in a couple more quarters into the arcade cabinet. How will these be adapted to modern platforms are yet to be seen.
