Is Bluepoint Games Working On A Remake For PlayStation 5?

They might be making a remake of a game that we might be missing from the current console generation.

Marco Thrush, the president of Bluepoint Games, told WIRED in an interview (where the now officially named PlayStation 5 had more details revealed) the following: „We’re working on a big one right now. I’ll let you figure out the rest.” On the ResetEra forums, the users are guessing that Bluepoint is dealing with the black sheep of the Souls series, namely Demon’s Souls, which was a PlayStation 3-exclusive game, and it is separate from the Dark Souls series (which is now all available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One since Dark Souls Remastered’s arrival in 2018). The IP, the intellectual property, is owned by Sony, and not FromSoftware (who are now working on Elden Ring)…

Previously, we might have discussed what the head of FromSoftware, Hidetaka Miyazaki said – he’d enjoy a remaster of the game by another studio if it was „done right.” And Bluepoint can do things right – just look at what they worked on in the past decade or so: God of War Collection – PlayStation 3; The Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection – PlayStation 3; Metal Gear Solid HD Collection – PlayStation 3, Xbox 360; Flower – PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita; Titanfall       – Xbox 360 port; Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection – PlayStation 4; Gravity Rush Remastered – PlayStation 4; Shadow of the Colossus – PlayStation 4.

At this year’s GDC (Game Developers Conference), Peter Dalton, the technical director of Bluepoint, said that their next game will be a „re-envisioning” and not a remake or a remaster. So they will go a step further on this project for PlayStation 5, as it’s unlikely they still develop for the PlayStation 4.

If Sony will be out at next year’s E3, they might showcase what Bluepoint is doing…
